Silence and Light - the trilogy grew organically. We began by agreeing on the theme of Silence and Light, and then individually went away and made our own work in response to this theme. We would then meet up periodically to share and discuss the images we had made.
We decided to combine our work to select the images, filtering and sequencing again and again, discussing things from all angles, sparking off ideas and going off on tangents in the most positive of ways. We each created a draft and saw those differences emerge again, positively. So we decided to keep it that way – our first collective project is authentically a product of each of us and our mutual relationship, collective and separate, cooperative and respectful, collaborative and independent.
Each of us has worked from the same collection of images, but curated them in our own style giving emphasis and weight in the way that seemed right to each of us. And each photographer has added their own text, either their own writing or their chosen words from elsewhere.
